Do not remove AS exams for A-level students in 2015

It is extremely vital that students studying A-level courses should be allowed to take AS Level exams in their first year. The AS exams have huge benefits. One major advantage is that it gives universities a more accurate representation of a students capability, ensuring that the right students are picked for the right qualifications. GCSE Grades and Predicted Grades are not accurate enough to outline a students ability, which would make it increasingly difficult to obtain places in universities.

Also, AS exams help prepare students for the next year of study, where they would be learning more difficult modules and taking more difficult exams. Removing these vital exams would mean that a student would not be able to choose which subject to drop when it comes to choosing A-levels, which would decrease the chance of them obtaining a sufficient grade because they could unknowingly make the wrong decision.

The removal of AS exams would make an immense negative impact on every student's success. Education is very important, and all options should be considered but the best option should be taken.
