Chik-fil-A has defended their use of non-biodegradable polystyrene foam cups by stating that they are recyclable. They also argue that paper cups do not biodegrade well in landfills. While both points are true, they fail to mention that almost no services exist to recycle their cups or that many of their cups end up as litter.
Animals ingest parts of their littered cups and develop clogged digestive systems. These toxic cups take hundreds of years to degrade and release toxic chemicals in the process.
Its time that Chik-fil-A either provide cup recycling services in all of their restaurants or switch to biodegradable, paper cups. They promote themselves as a Christian company. If that it is true, then let them show that they are also good stewards of the planet.
