In 2012, Broward County commissioners passed a resolution instructing the shelter to take all measures necessary to become a no-kill shelter. More than 6 years later, the county has repeatedly failed to hire the necessary people to implement a strategic plan that would ensure that the county meets these goals. After 10 months at the shelter, the new director has not released a strategic plan to reach this goal. We need to hold our elected officials to their 2012 promise and demand they hire competent management to meet the needs of our community. Please write to your commissioners and let them know you are not happy with the current shelter management and want change now.

As a resident of Broward County, I demand that the county shelter implement a plan to become a no-kill community NOW! We have waited more than 6 years for County Administration to implement the resolution you passed. They have failed to hire the necessary management with the skills and experience necessary to effect the change the animals of Broward County deserve. We need tougher enforcement of existing laws, creation of programs to help families keep their pets in their homes, programs to help the homeless animals in our shelter find new homes and education programs to ensure the next generation of Broward County residents understands how they can be a part of a no-kill community. I am asking you to take action and push County Administration to implement a plan NOW!
