Demand mandatory CO2 Emission Dashboard Display in vehicles

Awareness is first step towards bringing a change. We all know our generation is heading into a climate disaster, driven by global warming, in turn primarily driven by carbon emission. We know estimates of total carbon emissions but we don't get to see our own contribution to the problem on a daily basis.

It's time to change. It's time to start being aware. It's time to demand our right to know how much carbon our vehicles are asking us to emit to go a mile and it's time to know that our daily trip to office adds how much carbon to the environment. The very environment our children and grand children would breath in.

I am demanding that each vehicle be equipped with a mandatory separate dashboard display, just like mileage meter, to show current trip and lifetime total amount of CO2 emitted by the vehicle. No one should be able to stop this meter, and it should provide realistic CO2 emission, for example based on fuel consumed and not based on distance traveled. Electric cars should also have this display based on energy consumed and average CO2 emission to generate electrical energy.

Demand mandatory CO2 Emission Dashboard Display in vehicles

Dear EPA Administrator,

I urge the EPA to mandate CO2 Emission Dashboard Display in all vehicles.

The EPA should take immediate steps to mandate a CO2 Emission Dashboard Display in vehicles in order to:

* Increase awareness towards individual contribution to carbon emission by vehicular use
* Enable people to monitor their vehicular carbon emission
* Enable people to optimze lifestyle to reduce their vehicular carbon emission
* Enable people to feel good about reducing their vehicle used base carbon emission footprint
* Enable carbon emission becoming an influencing factor in vehicle purchasing decision
* Give vehicle manufacturers a reason to build greener vehicles
* Move one step closer to saving the earth from ever increasing carbon emissions.

Bringing awareness to vehicular carbon emission upon usage is long overdue. I urge you to ensure that your agency takes quick and firm action towards mandating a carbon emission meter on every vehicle sold.

Thank you for your consideration of this important issue.

Sincerely,
Tarun Jain
