STOP CHILD CARE BEING FINANCED BY WELFARE CUTS

  • by: Kay G
  • recipient: Social Services Minister Christian Porter

This government is TAKING FROM people on welfare to fund their child care package to support people in our society who are on incomes up to $349,000.

"Senator Derryn Hinch passed an amendment to the bill that would see 15,000 families earning above $350,000 miss out on any form of childcare subsidy. Mr Birmingham said the government accepted the need to compromise on the bill and that a family income of $350,000 was a “logical” point at which to cut off government payments."

THE WAITING PERIOD FOR YOUTH ALLOWANCE WILL BE EXTENDED to secure savings for the $1.6 billion child care reforms.
SINGLE PARENT PAYMENTS WILL ALSO HAVE A WAIT TIME IMPOSED.
The income free areas and means test thresholds for all working age payments and single parent payments will be locked at their current levels for three years."

The result? Teenage kids and little kids forced to live on the street, with or without a parent.
IN REALITY THIS MEANS THESE KIDS ARE OUT ON THE STREET WITH THAT SINGLE PARENT? SOME KIDS OUT ON THE STREET SO THAT PARENTS EARNING $349,000 CAN GET CHILD CARE SUBSIDY?

WE WANT:
1) an amendment to the bill that would see families earning above $200,000 miss out on any form of childcare subsidy.
2) The waiting period for Youth Allowance to be abolished
3) Single Parent Payments to have no waiting time imposed.
4) The income free areas and means test thresholds for all working age payments and single parent payments to receive CPI increases according to current cost of living.
5) Politicians to see cuts in their fringe benefits and pensions, and waiting periods of up to 2 years after retiring from Government positions to receive their pension payments to aid in subsidising the Child Care package. If these politicians find employment in those 2 years, they do not receive their political pension until the age of retirement from their new position.
