Tony at the Truck Stop

Petition to request news update on Tony the Tiger

Target:
Louisiana News Media
Sponsored by:
This petition is asking for the news media in Louisiana, such as 2the Advocate and WBRZ and others, to please contact Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries to find out why it is taking so long for a decision to be made on the permit that would allow Tony the Tiger to remain at Tiger Truck Stop in Grosse Tete. We want to see Tony removed to a sanctuary where he can live out his life with respect. He continues to linger in a concrete cage while Wildlife and Fisheries makes their decision. If you want to be updated on Tony, please sign this petition to kindly ask the news media to get our questions answered.

We the undersigned are concerned people who want the best for the tiger that resides at a truck stop in Grosse Tete, Louisiana. We are asking for your help in contacting Wildlife and Fisheries and whomever you believe can answer the question, "Why is it taking so long for a decision on whether Tony the Tiger will be allowed to remain in a concrete cage at the truck stop or whether the permit will be denied?" Without this permit, which is taking months to be decided on, the owner would have to relinquish the animal to a proper sanctuary to live out the remainder of its life. It is not just a question of the well being of the tiger; but also a question of the health and safety of the residents in the area and the onlookers that stop to look at the tiger while at the gas station. After researching this situation, you will find that the owner of the tiger was breaking a parish law for several years, only to have that law reversed for one single individual. Over ONE THOUSAND people across the globe are asking for your help. It is our hope that someone in the news media will step up and get some answers as to why this tiger is being allowed to remain a mere road side attraction for the sole benefit of one man's business. Thank you for taking the time to read our request. We look forward to any answers you can bring us.

The media has answered the request for an update on Tony the Tiger. Although it was not the answer we were looking for, a permit has been granted and sadly Tony will remain at the truck stop for now. Keep watching for more information on him and thank you for signing and sharing your concern.

My husband and I moved to Louisiana about 3 years ago and until this day I have been proud to call Lousiana home. I am so outraged by the fact that some sorry kind of man has to put a Tiger on display to try and bring in business. How sad is that!!! I am just disgusted.. I hope one day that the owner of Tony the tiger is locked behind caged walls one day and kept there!

It is a known fact of the anatomy that when kept in confined conditions outside the species natural habitat they become severely depressed. Some of the other symptoms may include deterioration of some/all faculties, loss of sight, urinating problems such as that of a male who has BPH/enlarged prostate, loss of appetite along with several other health issues. This animal needs to be A) Immediately diagnosed by a proper vet who specializes in big cats and B) If healthy, placed in a sanctuary where the tiger will be well cared for and loved. The current confinement and conditions of Tony the Tiger is cruel, inhumane and malevolent. Positive action from the appropriate authorities immediately is morally the proper step to take.

I really hope Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries sees this petition and realizes how terrible it is for a wild animal to be kept in a CONCRETE CAGE at a TRUCK STOP. It's insanity!! If they really were Louisiana WILDLIFE and Fisheries they should know that. What's taking them so long?!?!?! Anyone can see that these are the exact opposite of the conditions that a tiger SHOULD be living in!! I'm only 14 and I can see that, but the LWF, a group of ADULTS, can't? What is the world coming to these days???

Tony, the Tiger is not living in an environment that is natural for a Tiger. He should be freed from his concrete cell/jail and placed in the care of the experts and given sanctuary. Tony should be able to live out his life as a Tiger, not a road side attraction. He is being exploited. The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries must not permit this cat to remain in this concrete cell and permits should be declined. Our federal government must intervene and protect our animals from human exploitation.

Tony should be removed to a sanctuary where he can live out his life with respect. I don't understand how this can be allowed to happen?
