Reinstate OHV use on Pitkin County Colorado/USFS shared roads

Historically Off Highway Vehicle use in Pitkin County Colorado has been allowed on certain shared use (County/USFS routes).one such route is from the top of Taylor Pass over Richmond Hill to the Aspen Ski area. This road is used for one of the countries most Demanding Cross Country running races and The Grand Traverse, A cross country Bike race every year Labor Day weekend. Other routes affected is off road trails in and around the Maroon Bells N/W of Crested Butte.

Recently the County officials determined that these routes would be closed to OHV use and open to on highway vehicles only effectively banning access to USFS lands even though our Tax dollars pay for upkeep and patrolling of these routes. This was also done without a proper comment time for the public.
The County also has "contracted" the USFS to enforce the new route change which is a conflict of interest between county and federal officials. County people enforcing federal rules and federal people enforcing county rules? This is a clear jurisdictional conflict.

Please sign the Petition, Contact Pitkin County Colorado and the USFS as well as the Colorado State Representatives and voice your concerns about a limited demographic in Colorado being effectively denied access to Taxpayer funded public use routes and not being given equal protections under the law.

We Must demand equal protection under the Law!!

Unless we Act we will continue to lose our rights.
