Bring an NHL team to Cleveland

The last time Cleveland won a championship was in 1964.  The last time an NHL game was played here was in 1978.  Bringing a professional hockey team at the highest level of competition in the world to Cleveland would increase our odds to win a championship, benefit the Cleveland area economically, and provide entertainment to the hundreds of thousands of hockey fans in Northeast Ohio.

Many question the market for four professional teams in the area or Ohio's ability to sustain two professional hockey teams but the evidence that Cleveland has a market for hockey answers any questions a person can have.  The Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL have one of the most loyal fan bases in the league, ranking top ten in attendance year after year.  If we can support an AHL team the way we have, imagine how successful an NHL franchise can be with the same passionate fans to support it.

We all know and love Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cavaliers, Monsters, Gladiators, and Charge.  He has done more for Cleveland over the last few years than anyone.  I believe Dan Gilbert has the same passion for Cleveland and the same desire to win as any sports fan in Cleveland.  If we can get enough people to support the idea of bringing an NHL franchise to Cleveland, Dan Gilbert will see that it would benefit him, the city, the NHL, and sports fans throughout Northeast Ohio.  Please sign the petition and spread it around to everyone you know and show that Clevelanders can support and sustain an NHL franchise in our great city.
