Demand the end of pollution at the Isipingo River, KZN, South Africa and urge the local municipality
The Isipingo municipality has been dumping raw sewage and allowing burst sewer pipes to drain in to the river system in the South Basin, south of Durban in Kwazulu- Natal. For many years the municipality has been "ill treating" this precious water system that is home to protected mangrove trees and one of the few areas left that supports these beautiful trees. Fish have died in the thousands and recently the surrounding beaches have been deemed unsafe for bathing. The clean up of the area has been continually delayed since its been polluted early in the year 2014. Residents are not helped and calls arent answered or attended to. The stench in the area is sometimes unbearable and is difficult to breath. The municipality blames that ageing infrastructure for the burst pipe, but it is the very same municipality that does not maintain the infrastructure in Isipingo. ISIPINGO MUNICIPALITY - TAKE ACTION, BECOME RESPONSIBLE AND SAVE THIS AREA.

We demand that the Isipingo River recieves the care that the Isipingo municipality has neglected to give the area. Please clean up and restore the area. The sewerage infrastucture needs proper maintenance. The ecosystem has deteriorated to a critical level. Isipingo and surrounding areas are extremely beautiful, please take neccessary action to restore the area and especially the water systems. We love Mother Earth and need to preserve her.

Hi, beautiful soul. Thank you from the river. On Wednesday I walked along the banks at the river mouth. Unfortunately there are dense concentrated blankets of algae on the surface suffocating this wondrous aquatic system. We need 50 signatures to get the petition promoted internationally.
