Canada: Halt Trade Agreements With The Philippines!

On the government of Canada's official website, there is a page dedicated to information regarding Canada-Philippines relations. An official quote of the site says, "the Embassy of Canada in Manila works with the Government of the Philippines... [for] the promotion and protection of human rights in the Philippines." Yet currently, underneath the presidency of Rodrigo Duterte, the Philippines is undergoing an era of unbridled killing and unlawful leadership.

In particular, Philippine President Duterte has launched a War on Drugs in which he has vowed to kill "every drug pusher." In just six months, more than 7,000 people have been killed in police operations or extrajudicial executions, and the killings are not over yet.

My goal, through this petition, is to create awareness for this issue and to halt Canada's trade deals with the Philippines while the country is still being ruled by a tyrannical president. Please sign in order to create awareness of this social injustice. If Canada truly cares about human rights, it will stop doing deals with the Philippines under its current administration.
