Texas, Increase Inspection of Livestock Producers To Ensure Safe Handling of Animals

Another dairy farm located in Texas has been found to be inappropriate with the care of their animals.  Eyewitness accounts claim that the cows lived in small confined spaces, often needing to lie down on their own waste. Many of the animals were so filthy, it was difficult to know what color the cows were in reality.

According to reports at http://investigations.peta.org/suffering-at-daisy-sour-cream-supplier/?utm_campaign=Daisy%20Investigation&utm_source=PETA%20E-Mail&utm_medium=Alert state that the cows, even those in labor were whipped, kicked, jabbed with a knife or pens, while others had their tails twisted, causing severe pain and discomfort. There were times they were forced to stand motionless and unable to access water, which is crucial for cows. In order to get maximum milk supply from each, most were kept constantly pregnant. And then the calves are not even allowed to nurse, but are immediately sold for human consumption.

These animals suffer undue pain and suffering with the farm hands main concern for demand, supply and profits.  The owners of the farms set the ground rules in caring for the animals with monetary gain in mind, not hiring animal lovers that would treat them humanely with respect. We are encouraging authorities to increase inspection and monitoring of all dairy farms such as this one in Texas to ensure the animals are handled and cared for in a safe, healthy environment.

This petition is our effort to speak out to the Texas Department of Agriculture and ask them to help ensure animals on dairy farms are treated with their well-being in mind.  You can help in our goals by signing and sharing this petition and be a voice for all those cows that suffer relentlessly.

Texas Department of Agriculture, Commissioner Sid Miller – In light of the abuse that occurs at many of the dairy farms in Texas such as the one in this petition, we encourage you to implement some strict and frequent inspections and monitoring of these facilities to ensure the safe handling of the animals.  Be a voice for these cows and consider their health and well-being.
