Take away Trump's ability to pardon himself if he's president

Donald Trump has been charged with a range of federal crimes, and he appears to be running for president primarily so he could pardon himself if elected.

We need to act now to take away his ability to self-pardon. We can do so through a Constitutional amendment.

An amendment is never easy, but there is broad agreement across party lines that convicted criminals should not be able to pardon themselves. And it is unclear whether the Constitution's presidential pardon power even includes self-pardons. So let's make it clear, let's pass it quickly, and let's have it in place before the next presidential election.

And if Republicans won't get on board, let that be yet more evidence that they care more about protecting criminals than defending justice.

For those skeptical, we get it, but if there's enough pressure, there is precedent for moving quickly on amendments. The 26th amendment (lowering the voting age) was proposed by Congress on March 23, 1971, and the necessary three-fourths of the states ratified it within 100 days.
