Georgia - Ensure Stricter Charges & Penalties for All Intentional Animal Abuse, Neglect and Cruelty

There is never any excuse or justification for intentionally harming an animal but it happens on a daily basis.  Efforts continue to put an end to such cruelty but often times the penalties just do not fit the crime to make a lasting impression. Recently though, some penalties have escalated from minor misdemeanors to a felony for some forms of animal abuse, cruelty, neglect and abandonment. In some instances, accidents and actions for self-defense do occur and seriously need to be proven when it comes to repercussions for harming an animal.  These defenseless creatures need and deserve humans to step in and ensure that abusers be held accountable for any and all forms of intentional animal cruelty.  Such proposed penalties need to ensure any and all offenses against an animal be classified as a felony.  Along with the felony offense and appropriate consequences, the offender would be listed as a registered animal abuser that would prevent future mistreatment, ownership and encounters with any animals for a lifetime, guaranteed.  Strict measurements need to be taken and fully enforced in order to put an end to such animal cruelty.

The effort in this petition is to urge Georgia State Legislators to implement and strictly enforce more stringent animal cruelty charges and penalties for any and all forms of animal abuse.  Any harm to an animal deserves felony charges with serious penalties.  You can help with this effort by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own comments, ideas and thoughts on these laws.
