Shelters are supposed to work for the care and well-being of animals, finding them the best forever homes in the end. However, it was recently noted in Gallia County, Ohio at the Gallia County Animal Shelter that the dogs have been put down through a method called "heart sticking" without sedation, a procedure that became illegal about a year and a half ago. Since the alleged incident, the assistant dog warden has been reassigned to the county's maintenance department until the investigation wraps up. This is all according to a spokesperson with the Friends of Gallia County Animal Shelter.
An investigation is underway to prove the inhumane practices at this shelter that was headed by the Assistant Dog Warden. Until the investigation is completed, this dog warden was reassigned to another position, to do the same thing?? This shelter needs to be accountable for these inhumane practices in euthanizing dogs in such a torturous manner. The assistant dog warden responsible should be totally relieved from his duties in any animal care capacity!

Gallia County Prosecutor - Gallipolis City Solicitor – Police Investigators in Gallia County, Ohio – Please do a thorough investigation into the inhumane practices of the Gallia County Animal Shelter and shut them down if it proves true that they did kill these animals in a torturous, inhumane manner. It is said that the animals were killed without being sedated; the usual humane manner is to gently put a dog to sleep so it does not suffer. This is not what they were doing! Additionally, the assistant dog warden who oversees these actions needs to be fired from the position; not transferred somewhere else where he thinks this is okay to do!! That person should be banned from working with animals in any capacity. Be a voice for these animals! Stop the abuse!
