Dear valued speaker of the Senate,
It would be much appreciated if you take in to consideration the idea of legalizing marijuana for anyone 18 and older. Other states have already legalized it and we should also. Here are some great insights as to why it should be legalized; our own current president has said that "pot is not "more dangerous than alcohol". Also more than half the country is in full support to fully legalize it and three quarters of the states has decriminalized the penalties for it.
Expanding on the topic, our government is spending around $3.6 billion to put people in jail just for the simple possession of marijuana. This goes on their records and sometimes prohibit them from getting a job, a loan, and many other things. Along with having those long term affects, marijuana has health benefits such as helping with epilepsy, pain with aids, nausea from chemotherapy, and many other health problems.
As you read my petition to legalize marijuana for people who are 18 and older, please keep in mind all of the points I have mentioned. It will benefit us more than damage us.
