Fibre Broadband for Priory Vale

Many areas across Swindon and the rest of the UK are now being connected to super-fast fibre optic broadband. Old Town and the Town Centre already have fibre optic broadband with rural areas likely to receive broadband in the next few years thanks to European & National capital expenditure. This petition is to show that this significant demand for these services to exist in Priory Vale.

What We Have Been Doing

  • Councillor Emma Faramarzi contacted Openreach to enquire if they planned on extending Infinity fibre broadband to the Haydon Wick exchange. [The reply was 'no']/
  • Justin Tomlinson MP wrote a joint letter with Councillors Toby Elliott, Emma Faramarzi & Mark Edwards to Openreach to put pressure on them to deliver the services as the demand is clearly here.
  • Councillor Toby Elliott established this petition to show there is demand for fibre broadband in Priory Vale.
  • Councillors Toby Elliott, Emma Faramarzi & Mark Edwards lobby Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet to consider seed funding the project.
  • Councillor Dale Heenan, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, agrees £1.5m to jointly fund with Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) the roll out of fibre broadband to the Haydon Wick exchange.
  • Councillors are awaiting decision from BDUK over whether they will jointly fund the broadband roll out.
Update #19 years ago
Thank you for signing our petition to get fibre broadband to Priory Vale. We have recently heard that the Government is supporting our £1.5m bid and so fibre will be coming our way.
