Debra Harrell, of North Augusta, South Carolina has been arrested and her 9 year old daughter taken away from her by Social Services because she dropped her daughter off to play at a popular local park/playground unnattended while Harrell worked five minutes away at McDonalds. Release Harrell, a single working mother, and let her daughter be returned to her!

Usually the daughter would go to work with Debra and play on a laptop while she worked. But the laptop was stolen from their home and the daughter asked if she could play at a nearby well-attended local park while the mom worked.

How is letting your child play in a outdoor park setting enjoying nature unsupervised a crime? Why is this a crime while allowing your child to spend 10,000 hours playing violent video games or watching ultra-violent or graphic television shows or movies is not a crime? Ms. Harrell's arrest on these grounds is totally unjustified and Orwellian.

The forced separation of her daughter from Ms. Harrell by the Department of Social Services is just going to make things worse for the family and the daughter and she was just playing in a park, how is this a crime???

It's outrageous that North Augusta, SC, authorities have jailed a woman and taken away her daughter for playing in a park!! How can this be allowed in this country?? Free Debra Harrell and reunite her with her daughter immediately!

Please sign the petition and if you can please contribute to a fund that has been set up to help Debra.

I am writing to request that you drop the charges against Debra Harrell and reunite her with her daughter. Ms. Harrell's arrest for allowing her child to play unsupervised at a local park is unjustified and an example of excessive government overreach. The evidence in the case does not justify this extreme action.

Separating Ms. Harrell from her daughter for allowing her to play in the park while she, a single mother, worked is an extreme example of governmental overreach. Please immediately drop the charges and reunite Debra and her daughter.
