We demand full public transportation service within the City of Monona, WI.

Historically and presently, the City of Monona provides a very limited transportation service called "Monona Transit" and "Monona Lift." Neither of these actually provides a full service to Municipal entities and local businesses. Employees in Monona have no transportation to their jobs. Visitors from outside Monona are dropped off by Madison Metro at the outskirts of town, or driven past all the places where stops should be.

At the same time Monona refuses to join up with Madison Metro and allow their buses to stop (even at major intersections where benches are already placed) the Monona MTA charges $3.00 for their own buses that do not provide all day pubic access to paces like our Library, Post Office, Swimming Pool, WInnequah & Ahuska Park, Pier 37. Monona Transit and Monona lift largely run empty during the day.

This petition demands that City Council, MTA and the Mayor review their position an create a bus system that serves ALL businesses on Monona Drive (between Pier 37 and Atwood Avenue) and Broadway (between Stoughton Road and South Towne Mall), with a loop through Nichols Road, Owen, and Femrite Road. This service should be timed for employees to get to and from their jobs, visitors from Madison and surrounding areas to transfer from Madison Metro to Monona Buses, to improve the infrastructure of the City.

All Monona Businesses deserve to be on or near bus stops. If Monona Transit Authority can not find a way to improve it's own bus service, then turn over the operating funds to Madison Metro and let them do their job. Thank You.
