Please Help Save Ashleys Pet Poultry Corner and Skiptons Middleton Town Pens and Allotments ..

A NOTE TO YOU FROM ASHLEY  XX

My Pet Poultry Corner is simply to show children in our area, that there is more to chicken/poultry keeping than just ordinary brown hens. They love looking at all the different breeds of my  birds through the fences, and their parents and other adults love to see them all too  .
Even the local schools bring the children for a walk past my pens to see all the animals there.

I have steadily collected different types and breeds over this last 3 years. (I have also studied at Craven College in Skipton for the last three years and successfully passed a 3 year diploma course on Horticulture, Agriculture, Poultry, small animal care, Horse Care, Rural Studies etc .. I am now on a further years course doing Land Based Studies, which all will hopefully help me toards my ultimate aim and passion, which is one day to run my own small holding, and a farm animal/bird petting zoo.

I am 23 years old, and I happen to have Down Syndrome. I have worked hard to care for my Pens and birds. Please help me keep them here .

There are also around two thirds of the area of Middle Town Pens and Allotments that have pets and livestock on in some form or another, be it pigeons, sheep, horse, rabbits, bees, poultry, fowl and Ashleys pens also have rhea. I apologise if I have left any other out.

(Also there are many Allotmentees who enter competitions with their very carefully nurtured vegetables, flowers and other plants, along with other people grow the vegetables etc for their own consumption, these will also be eventually affected by new rules and guidlines the council are bringing in. We are becoming very concious that there are long term, ulterior motives within the new rulings, and most of us feel that there are more, serious changes ahead of us, that will threaten the future existence of Middletown Pens and Allotments)



To cut this to the main part........

One way or another, the council are hell bent on getting all animals two legged or four off the MIDDLETOWN PENS.... Which they have, WITHOUT ANY CONSULTATION WITH PEN OR ALLOTMENT HOLDERS, now decided to call them MIDDLETOWN GARDENS!!!!!
Ashleys new tenancy agreement has come through and at this moment can not mention ALL the SLIGHT changes made, but the MAIN CHANGE is that Ashley ( and other tenants) will no longer be able to keep all his fabulous pets, whether it be the ones that you all come to see at his pens, or, his others that he breeds for competition showing .....and for showing their eggs (theres many, many people at the pens that breed for competition showing..theres also alot of people who have racing pigeons too ..... they are going to abolish all this through at first limiting the number of birds people have to a very small amount, knowing that none of us will be able to carry on with any of our hobbies, if only this limit is going to be  allowed.
Ashley will also have to probably cull a good percentage of his birds as they are not standard birds he could rehome .... and could not trust just anyone taking some of the breeds as they need knowledgable and specialist care ....
there are a good amount of poultry keepers on the Pens and allotments, and to say they have only given us a small amount of time, in relevance to the lifespan of the pets/livestock etc, we can only come to the conclusion that there is a good probability that some will have to be culled. 

MIDDLETOWN PENS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN KNOWN AS PENS FOR AT LEAST 60 YEARS!!!!!!
We have asked head officers in the council office why this is happening, many many times, why are they gunning for us?.....
No reason given on any of the occasions that we have asked them.
