Request for a county animal shelter for Henry County Missouri

I am submitting a request for a signature petition for a county shelter for Clinton,Mo and the surrounding area. ( Henry County). I am writing this as a concerned citizen of Henry County.
There is an issue with dogs and cats and puppies and kittens by the litter being dumped and people living close to where these animals are being dumped feel obligated to care for these animals.
This happens all the time but more so at this time of the year as it is breeding season for these animals. There are so many stray dogs and cats being dumped either in the country or dumped on the doorstep of the Clinton city shelter which is always full without a second thought of what might happen to them by the person doing the dumping.

Sadly, many of these strays were once pets that owners have dumped because Mama dog or cat got pregnant. The solution to that issue would have been for the owner to be responsible and have their pet spayed or neutered. I feel this needs to be addressed.
These animals have no voice of their own so I am here to be that voice for them by seeing how many signatures I can get so this can be submitted to our county commissioners . With a county animal shelter people would have an alternative to dumping the animals and the animals would have a second chance at finding a loving, safe happy home and family. My feelings are very strong on this subject.

As an animal lover, I would love to be able to save them all, but I am only one person and cannot do that. I do however believe these animals deserve a second chance at a happy life. I am hoping that with the help of interested parties that we can make this a reality.

It's really heartbreaking to be driving down the highway and see a cat, dog, puppy or kitten lying on the side of the road knowing it could have been avoided most of the time.Also looking out in a field watching a stray cat or dog scrounging for a meal wishing all along that I could just take them home. There have been several suggestions of a location for the site. It has been brought to my attention that the old Stewart trash/ Galamba building may be empty and it would be the perfect setup for this project.
