Legalize hammocks in Kennesaw city parks

The city of Kennesaw interprets City Code Sec. 66-2(c)(2) to count hanging a hammock as tampering with public property. This unwritten, unadvertised, interpretation is from a time prior to the popularity and widespread use of low-impact non-damaging leave-no-trace hammock systems, such as the ENO. The current enforcement of this code is an unnecessary and surprising nuisance to otherwise safe and responsible park patrons. We encourage the city to change with the times to allow its patrons full opportunity for outdoor recreation and relaxation.

To be clear: we discourage leaving strung hammocks unattended, and leaving tie ropes behind as litter.

Update #19 years ago
The strangest thing just happened. I received an email from the city Park & Rec Manager, telling me he had instructed his staff to allow hammocks "at this time." This was in response to my question to him of how I can properly petition and raise awareness on city property.
That is not victory. Victory is seeing this issue codified, whether for or against! I will not abide fickle executive application of the rules.
The machinery is still in motion.
