North Haven Residents Want To Be Heard

We need all the signatures we can get before the Chain of Command on this installation will look into these issues. By now ICE Complaints have been filed, Commanders have gotten involved, and more problems arise. We all live here, most of us love it here, and too many of us are sick and tired of being robbed by North Haven.

One of the main problems is Soldiers with 3 or 4 bedroom homes living on post without children. While at the same time, there are families on the waiting list paying out of pocket to stay in hotels.
Another issue is the forced mow policy that many residents have dealt with just recently. It has even been brought up that North Haven has been directly fining people without a single knock on the door or a written warning beforehand.
Our loss of privileges of locked mailboxes is shameful. That in itself is a breach of contract considering it was put into our leases. If North Haven decides to be lazy in replacing our house keys when they are lost, will we also lose the 'privilege' of locking our homes?
Also, if you are a pet owner you should be familiar with the $250 non-refundable pet fee that is intended to cover the costs of cleaning the carpet, painting the baseboards, etc...but, there have been numerous complaints of North Haven using the black light test to identify spots that could have been there during the move in inspection, where the black light is not used. If North Haven plans to replace carpets that have not reached their 7 year life span because of stains they need to provide proof that the carpets are getting replaced. There is speculation that many homes here on Fort Wainwright have carpets with years of damages. Some of the carpets could be well over 10 years old and many of the Soldiers and their families could be left with the repair or cost of replacing them because of the previous owner. We are all human and we understand that mistakes happen, but the documentation process upon move in and move out is shady and full of room for underhanded, money-milking tactics.
Unfortunately, there are also many people here on this post that do not practice clean living standards and by all means they should be held liable for their actions. But, so many of us here take the time to follow the rules and do the right thing and we are still left paying out of pocket for things that aren't right. North Haven is among the worse in Customer Service, ready to call any resident a liar or thief. They just don't care to make their residents happy, but only to squeeze as much money out as possible.
Another complaint is the fence policy. If one wants a fence, you are required to make all the arrangements to have the ground inspected, pay for installing the fence, pay for the fence monthly and pay to have it removed if you decide you no longer want it or you PCS or ETS. And then, if the next family moving in wants a fence, the process starts all over again. It just doesn't make money-sense on either end.

If you read this and can identify with some or all of these problems and would like to join the fight to have them resolved, please sign this petition. This is in no way singling out any of the men or women working at North Haven, as they are just like us and have a job to do. If you are contacted by a representative, we ask that you be courteous and pay them with the respect they deserve. If you have or had similar or new problems with North Haven's policies, feel free to add them just below your signature so they can be brought to the Post Commanders attention. The problem will not be fixed if we continue to let it happen. Thank you and God Bless
