London Zoo: stop drunken party nights among the animal enclosures.

The Guardian reports that 'the welfare of animals at London zoo is being put at risk by drunken visitors at its Friday night parties, including one incident in which a man poured beer over a tiger before being thrown out by staff. Another incident this month saw a man strip off and attempt to enter the penguin pool, forcing staff to intervene.'  Other incidents have been reported, although not recognised by the zoo, and people who have attended these parties have expressed their digust at the behaviour of other party-goers and their deep concern for the welfare of the zoo's animals.

The zoo apparently offsets  a very small proportion of its more than £30 million annual running costs with the income from these events so there's no 'profit' as such involved.  However, it's counter intuitive that a well-respected and world renowned academic institution should be prepared to compromise its public image and its reputation by promoting drunken parties amongst the cages and enclosures of its precious animals.

Tell the London Zoo to end "Zoo Lates" for the sake of the animals' welfare!
