If an organisation intentionally lies to pregnant people to scare them out of having abortions, what should the Canadian government do? Take away their charitable status? Fine them?
The shocking results from a detailed investigation have revealed that the Canadian government does neither, but instead actively rewards deceitful anti-abortion agencies with millions of dollars each year. Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada (ARCC) volunteers examined the tax records of 112 "crisis pregnancy centres" (CPCs), which are registered as charities, and found millions of dollars of government donations and tax breaks.

Joyce Arthur, Executive Director of ARCC, said: "Groups that provide medical misinformation to women under the guise of ‘education’, or that cause distress and confusion for women seeking abortion under the guise of ‘counselling,’ should not have charitable tax status and should never get government funding."
Many of the centres are run by fundamentalist Christian volunteers with no medical training. The clinics often hide their anti-abortion agenda, allowing clients to assume they will receive impartial counselling and medically sound advice.
