Save Killeen's pet snakes.

We request that the city of Killeen Texas revise its current ordinance concerning snakes kept as pets. This ordinance includes but is not limited to all forms of venomous reptiles and non-venomous snakes which will exceed a length of six feet when mature.

Whether you fear them, love them or simply respect them, they never fail to inspire, or awe.
Snakes are being used in as therapy animals to treat depression. Research has shown that at risk youth responded most favorably to the snake.
Herpetoculturists have quietly accomplished one of the greatest conservation projects ever attempted, all of which has been privately funded. A significant percentage of scientific research that has been published has been based on captive populations of snakes and lizards. If captive populations of reptiles are outlawed, many species of reptiles will be forever lost, lost in captivity, lost in the wild, and lost for all future generations to enjoy.
Snakes have value. Don’t allow snakes to be removed private ownership. Snakes are medicinally, therapeutically and ecologically significant.  They are a key part of human history and culture and offer far more to humanity than we are willing to credit them.
