Coors: Pull Your Sponsorship from Animal-Torturing Rodeo at the Hebron Harvest Fair!

The Hebron Harvest Fair is planning to host a PRCA ProRodeo this September- a horrifically cruel event in which countless animals will be traumatized and are likely to be seriously injured or killed.

One of the many barbaric activities planned is calf roping. Calves are tortured in the chute so they will come out running at high speeds. A rider will then yank the baby animal into the air with a choking rope, slam the animal to the ground, and tie her legs together. Calves often cry out in pain, defecate from fear, and suffer broken necks from this practice. Once they are injured too severely to perform, they will be sent to the slaughterhouse.

Bull-riding and bareback riding of horses are also planned for the crowd’s entertainment. These innocent animals will be tortured to appear aggressive - with devices such as electric prods and “bucking straps” that burn the animals’ abdomens.

According to the Animal Legal Defense Fund, it is common for rodeo animals to suffer from broken ribs, necks, and backs, internal organ damage, and “agonizing deaths.” There is no rule requiring that fatally injured animals receive humane euthanasia.

Dr. C.G. Haber, former veterinarian and meat-inspector, reported, “The rodeo folks send their animals to the packing houses where… I have seen cattle so extensively bruised that the only areas in which the skin was attached was the head, neck, legs, and belly. I have seen animals with six to eight ribs broken from the spine and at times puncturing the lungs. I have seen as much as two and three gallons of free blood accumulated under the detached skin.”

As an animal-lover and long-time Connecticut resident, I am outraged that this despicable form of “entertainment” is planned to occur in Hebron, CT. Coors Beer is proudly sponsoring this event and sponsors many similar events throughout the country every year. The company even calls itself “The Official Beer of Rodeo.” Your voice is urgently needed to tell Coors to pull corporate sponsorship of the Hebron Harvest Fair PRCA ProRodeo. If enough people speak out against this torture, we can potentially stop this horrifically cruel rodeo from taking place. Please sign and share this petition today!

Dear Mr. Hattersley, Mr. Doyle, Mr. Kroll, and Mr. Marino:

I am deeply disturbed that Coors is planning to sponsor the Hebron Harvest Fair PRCA ProRodeo in Hebron, Connecticut this September.

I believe that rodeos are in inherently inhumane and will not support Coors as long as you maintain your image as “The Official Beer of Rodeo.”

I believe that rodeos have no place in a civilized society and asked that you immediately pull your sponsorship from the Hebron Harvest Fair PRCA ProRodeo.
