Eating Less Meat

Eating meat is one of the main things that each person does day to day that impacts every aspect of the earth. Wastes from animal feeding operations contaminate ground water supplies as well as the air. The meat industry generates more greenhouse  gases than all the trucks and cars in the world combined. Also, many habitats are destroyed in order to create land for the livestock to be raised. It takes about fourteen gallons of water to cultivate one pound of wheat, whereas it takes 441 gallons of water to produce one pound of meat. More than half of the water used for all purposes in the United States is used for livestock production. Also, 70% of the grain produced in the U.S. goes to feeding farm animals. Among many other things, eating meat is detrimental to the earth and our quality of living. By signing this petition, you are agreeing to refrain from eating meat on every Monday. This small change can make a huge difference.
