Investigate Americans For Prosperity (AFP)

Koch-created and -funded Americans For Prosperity calls itself a non-profit group, which exempts it from paying taxes and also allows it to keep donors' names secret.

According to the IRS, a 501(c) must be "organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, or educational purposes, or to foster national or international amateur sports competition (but only if no part of its activities involve the provision of athletic facilities or equipment), or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals, no part of the net earnings of which inures to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual, no substantial part of the activities of which is carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting, to influence legislation (except as otherwise provided in subsection (h)), and which does not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office."

Clearly, Americans For Prosperity and Americans For Prosperity Foundation are in violation of the purpose for declaring certain organizations tax exempt.

The tax-exempt status of Americans For Prosperity and Americans For Prosperity Foundation (and other political groups masquerading as nonprofits) should be revoked.

We request the United States Internal Revenue Service and the United States Federal Election Commission thoroughly investigate Americans for Prosperity and Americans For Prosperity Foundation for misreprenting themselves as nonprofit organizations. It is obvious these groups exist to promote a political agenda and utilize their nonprofit status to avoid taxes and to conceal the names of donors, donors who are fully aware of the groups' political activity.

Further, we request all such nonprofits which are engaged in political activity be investigated to review their eligibility for nonprofit status.
