Crime in the world is still increasing, and it is currently a major worldwide issue. A great majority of the issue lies within in hate crime; crime in which is caused by prejudice and superiority over another person or animal. It is felt that the penalties for hate crimes committed on the basis of the actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, language, ethnicity, false accusations, or gender of any person should be more severe than what they already are. Hate crime is a catastrophic issue that is felt to not be getting addressed as it should be. This is why we want the local government to increase attention to this issue, as well as to help prevent it.
Concerns for this have risen from the fact that hate crime has been becoming more common over the past years, following with many physical and phycological effects. The most common hate crime is discrimination, and many people have suffered greatly from the physical phycological assaults. People may find themselves physically attacked on the streets or have their home assaulted or vandalized. Psychologically, people may receive a particular message and become traumatized, feel unsafe in the outside environment, depressed, or feel unaccepted in society.
The cases of hate crime are very quickly climbing the ladder into becoming an even greater issue than it already is. In order to put an end to it all, we need to act now, and take the first steps to get the bigger powers involved.
