Investigate to Find Owner of Dog With Embedded Collar For Possible Charges of Abuse

A sweet young American bulldog was discovered running through traffic and picked up by a concerned Good Samaritan. It appeared that the animal was dragging a frayed leash attached to a choke collar. The disturbing finding is that the collar was embedded deeply within the neck, about three centimeters deep!

The veterinarian caring for the dog that they call Levi stated that "The whole neck area was bloody and her whole bottom portion of her neck was very enlarged.” He is being rehabilitated at the Ventura County Animal Services veterinary office. This is a no-kill facility. The vet believes the collar has been there for months, causing infection.

Now that Levi is on the mend, and in the care of a medical foster home, we are urging authorities to investigate this situation and find out who his original owner is. They want to track down Levi's original owners since they believe that animal abusers often commit other crimes. Levi’s veterinarian states that there's a "link between animal abuse, child abuse, domestic violence and elder abuse.”

Let’s get justice for Levi by encouraging the police to do a thorough investigation for the original owner that may be allegedly responsible for the pain and suffering this animal endured. You can help by signing and sharing this petition.
