Tell Australian Federal MPs: It's Time to Vote for Marriage Equality

Australians have waited long enough. It’s time for members of Parliament from all political parties to say “yes” to a free vote on Marriage Equality.

Before the last federal election in 2013, Tony Abbott said the Coalition party room would decide on a conscience—or free—vote for their MPs. They became the government—and they’ve hemmed and hawed ever since. In 2016, no-one is quite sure where Prime Minister Turnbull stands.

The Labor Party has already committed to introducing legislation into parliament making same-sex marriage legal if they win the 2 July federal election.

According to a recent survey, 77% of Australians support a free vote. A free vote is supported by 78% of Coalition voters, and 71% of swing voters.

No matter which party wins on 2 July, it’s time for free vote in parliament in support of legalizing same-sex marriage.

I was born in Australia, and I know how important the ongoing struggle for equality is to people in the country's LGBTQ community. Join us in demanding a commitment from all federal MPs to a free vote in the new parliament. They need to know where we stand. We need to know where they stand.

Thousands of Australian couples in loving relationships can’t wait any longer.
