Hire back Steve Whitmire (Kermit the Frog)

Steve Whitmire has been Kermit the Frog for the past 27 years.
He was recently fired, regarding his attempts of preserving Kermit's originally characteristics.
If you support the goal of getting Steve back into his role, please sign this petition and make it happen.

Reasons why Steve Whitmire should be given back his role of Kermit the Frog

  1. Disney’s long silence on Whitmire’s status demonstrates disregard for the fans who keep the Muppets on the big screen.
  2. Fans have recognized Disney’s successes and disappointments better than Disney itself.
  3. Unhappy fans can end the Muppets faster than unhappy Disney employees can.
  4. Regardless of which Henson family member hired Whitmire, those responsible for both approving and hiring a dedicated actor as Kermit cannot dismiss him as Kermit.
  5. Maintaining a character’s originality is a large priority over “unacceptable business conduct.”
  6. Whitmire’s Kermit is no less “bitter” than Jim Henson's frustrated Kermit. (Sesame Street 1969, The Muppet Show 1976, The Mupper Movie 1979)
  7. Since Kermit was originally a character frustrated from working with other Muppets, it is hypocritical that Whitmire be fired by those frustrated working with him.
  8. It is suspicious that Disney would not predict a possible personality shift in Whitmire’s Kermit, one year from ending his unhealthy and mentally draining relationship with Miss Piggy.

"You big, dumb stupid rotten monster! You make me so mad, I don't believe it!"
"I will not stand around while you do dumb stunts like that, Piggy!"
"I'll tell you what I'm going to do, Piggy. I'm going to fire you! Piggy, you are fired! You are fired, Piggy! You are fired! Fired!" - Jim Henson (Kermit)
