Allow the Development of new Baseball and Soccer fields at 181 Brinkworthy Rd. Salt Spring Island

Salt Spring Island has a shortage of usable baseball diamonds that are adequate size and condition for the families who use them. We ask the Islands Trust Local Trust Committee to approve the application to the Agricultural land Commission to allow the development of the property at 181 Brinkworthy into a sports facility for Salt Spring youth and families.
Currently we have groups of Salt Spring Island Minor Baseball youth who have to use facilities in Chemainus as their home field at great expense to the families and the community. Lack of fields make it difficult for youth and their families to stay in the Baseball or Fastball with so much commuting required. Some families are even forced to leave the island for the children to pursue their dreams of scholarships, or even landing a spot on a major league team.
Please sign this petition in support of Salt Spring Island youth and the opportunities sport provides.
We the undersigned believe that sport and activity are a cornerstone of a healthy and vibrant community. We request that the Islands Trust support the development of the property at 181 Brinkworthy Road into a PARC facility that will address the need for more Basball Diamonds which are adequately sized as well as additional Soccer Fields

Thanks everyone! So far we have over 150 names on our petition supporting new baseball and soccer fields at 181 Brinkworthy. We will be presenting this petition to the Local Trust Committee meeting Thursday December 17 @ 1:00 PM at the Lions Hall on Salt Spring.
