Animal Advocates Society of BC (www.animaladvocates.com) is petitioning the Office of the Chief Prosecutor of British Columbia to let it know how strongly BC's animal lovers feel about the issue of animal cruelty. For that reason it is particularly important that BC residents sign this petition.

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that Captain's killer be charged with animal cruelty, and if found guilty, receives the maximum sentence allowable: 5 years of imprisonment. As of November 5, 2012 it has been 101 days since the BC SPCA recommended charges to Crown, and we request that this matter be dealt with as quickly as possible.

Captain, a two-year-old German Shepherd, was discovered bloody and near death in a dumpster in Vancouver British Columbia on July 18, 2012. He was emaciated and had been brutally beaten. He had lacerations on his head and neck and was unable to walk. He died one day after being removed from the dumpster.

According to a neighbour who heard the beating, "It sounded like something metal hitting wood, very fast and very hard, like someone was in a rage beating against something."

Police found a knife, baseball bat, heavy chain and animal feces in Captain's owner's home.

This is an example of the most extreme and vicious animal cruelty imaginable. This helpless dog was left to die, alone, in agony, in the darkness of a dumpster. Imposing the maximum sentence will send a message that animal abusers in BC will be punished to the full extent of the law.

Please speak out against animal cruelty and help get justice for Captain by adding your signature to this petition. Also please send this petition to any animal-loving BC residents.
