As a single parent with little to no support, I find it nearly impossible to make ends meet; today many women find themselves stuck in the welfare system, a system that although from the surface it is there to help, however, it seems that their purpose is to keep those of us trying to be both self sufficient and self reliant remain stuck and eventually become lost in the system due to their rigid policies after being in a domestic shelter, I've finally been able to find housing and hold employment, however, month after month, I am in a upheaval battle due to constantly having my childcare voucher ending either due to insufficient wages or because I make above their poverty limit despite the fact that I can barely afford food nor diapers for my child.
It is time for us to unite and fight for these senseless policies to change. WE must take a stand to help single mothers be able to help themselves, their policies policies makes it impossible for one to get out of welfare, it;s like a vicious cycle, a web of lies which only purpose is to trap one for their underlying benefit and hidden agendas; if these government agencies that are there to help us truly wanted to, they would facilitate the needed resources and be more flexible. It is so easy to say that those on welfare are lazy and are playing the system, when there are those of us constatly fighting to escape the ruthless grasp of welfare with no avail.
I have had to resign from jobs due to the little options they've given me, as a single mother with no help neither support, without childcare I am faced to get on cash assistance (which is barely enough to support myself and my child) and stay home with my child. I've had been demeaned and belittled by those who are supposed to "help." There are too many struggling single mothers being stuck in the welfare system through no fault of their own.It is time for us to unite our forces and demand a more fair and flexible system, one that will work with one in aiding to be able to become self sufficient. Please help me make a change, lets take the stand together!
