Ban Backyard Slaughter in the United States

"Backyard butchers" who slaughter and butcher animals on makeshift farms involves shocking brutality of animal suffering and cruelty and do not follow humane slaughter laws and often butchered alive.
They are often kept in dieased conditions. The yards pose immense risk to public health, safety, and well-being. Blood and animal byproducts are often illegally disposed of onsite, jeopardizing local groundwater. Without any kind of regulation, the meat is sold to the general public on the black market with no inspection.
To prevent this uninspected meat from entering the black market and traveling state to state, we ask that backyard butchery be banned in all 50 states and make this type of slaughter a federal crime.
