Student Safety

The transportation program provided by LAUSD for the Magnet Programs is an invaluable service made available to families and helps allow the district’s students an opportunity to integrate into highly enriching curricula. However, when issues consistently occur due to the actions of an individual responsible for driving a bus, and the issues negatively impact a child’s education and safety, parents cannot help but be concerned and desire change.

Such is the case with the driver of Bus 6065, which takes students to and from Wonderland Avenue Elementary School. It is often that this bus is late to pick up the students from the designated bus stops, which causes the children to rush upon arrival to school and are often late. The most recent incident occurred on 18 October 2016, and the bus arrived at the Norton/3rd stop at 7:35AM when the designated pick up time is 7:18AM. Such late pickups are too frequent and not only cause the children to rush, the bus driver seems to rush, as well. The children have reported incidences to parents where the bus accelerated too abruptly, and heads have been knocked against windows and seats. On a less frequent basis, the bus is sometimes early, leaving parents running after the departing bus when the designated pick up time has not yet passed.

For the safety of our children, Parents who sign this petition earnestly plea for a resolution to the problems described above related to Bus 6065.
