Demand LGBT Protections in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wold recently signed two executive orders meant to protect the LGBT commuity from discrimination. But it may not be enough to protect LGBT members in more rural corners of Pennsylvania. A civil rights organization called the Movement Advancement Project notes that only two counties and thirty-three cities in Pennsylvania have enacted ordinances to protect LGBT individuals from being discriminated against by private industries

Pennsylvania's Fairness Act offers a great deal of hope. This act recently passed the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee last month. The act protects LGBT people from discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodations.

Pennsylvania law makers need to hear from YOU that you support this legislation which will create greater parity for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people. Please join me in asking the Pennsylvania General Assembly to immediately pass the accommodations and employment protection bills currently before committee.

Dear Assembly Members:

I'm sure you want Pennsylvania to be a safe state where everyone is treated fairly and equally. However, it appears that protections for LGBT people in your state are not yet what they should be. Currently, no legislation protects gay and lesbian job hunters from being turned away from employment or fired for their sexual orientation. Please immediately pass the accommodations and employment protection bills currently before committee.
