Thousands of dogs and cats all over the country need homes. Particularly, dogs that are being bred as a source of income to their owners, has gotten out of hand. Cats are allowed outdoors to roam, as they generally come back although they often come back pregnant. I would like to see a moratorium placed on the breeding of pets. Belonging to many animal sites on Facebook, I am horrified to see the animal abuse, the number of animals dumped on road sides, the daily observation of people selling puppies and kittens and the horrific number of Pitbulls injured from being in dog fighting rings and then abandoned. I would like a law enacted and enforced that would demand that every dog or cat, along with being licensed, also be spayed or neutered. Additionally, each municipality should have their property/building inspectors record or spot check all homes in which there is a dog or a cat and require proof of licensing and spay/neutering. Alternately, when each municipality does their property reassessment they can also record those homes where a dog or cat resides and forward the information to that city's city hall for someone to see to it that the law is enforced. Breeders and puppy mills MUST be shut down! While the target of this petition is the United States, I encourage everyone in countries around the world to circulate such a petition as well.
