Its Time To End Pain and Suffering of Our disabled and Elderly

Since the opioid crisis began many elderly and disabled people are being refused pain medication. People who truly, desperately need this medication to be able to live their lives. No longer being able to do more than lay on a couch. Vetrans who fought for our country. Grandparents who were hurt or sick. Parents trying to raise families even though they've been injured. Many are living with excrutiatinng pain and this is the only medication that works for them. Some have spent years trying to find something that works and are now being told they can no longer have the medicine that helped them function and gave them some small resimbulance of a normal life.
Many dont know that heroin addicts have been lumped with these also suffering people in the statistics. Which I beleive does not give an accurate picture.
Doctors offices busted in on stripped of their prescribing rights. Patients show up for their appointments to be told "Im sorry but the DEA is doing an investigation, we cant give you anything for pain till its over" People taking strong medication to control horrible pain. People forced, through no fault of their own, into withdrawls for simply trying to live as normal a life as possible. These people lose their chance at at living any kind of normal life all over again.
I know because I am one of these people.
Good doctors who try to help disabled people losing the ability to do their jobs. Making policy to cover their practices like making sure they see patients every month. Drug testing patients every month to make sure they are taking their pills and not taking anything else. Prescribing therapy even though youve had it and your never going to get any better but it looks good in files. Yet many of us are on Social Security or have no insurance and cant afford all these appointments.... 350.00 drug tests let alone other extras. Unscrupules doctors who dont think they make enough insisting on giving you cortisone shots every month, you dont need and sometimes shouldnt have, so you can get your presciption. Scared doctors who tell you they wont treat you because of all the new restrictions. People looking for help being told they are just addicts and sent home. Most of us know someone who has a story like this.
How many people forced off these medications turn to illegal drugs or alcohol. How many have tried for years to get help for ther pain that can no longer go on? How many have decided they cant live this way anymore and do the unthinkable? How many accidents have there been trying to self medicate? If we allow this to continue many more are going to die for what a bad principle? I know a man who turned to heroin just to help with the pain when he had his daughter on the weekend. The heroin was much stronger than medicine. His middle school age daughter found him dead. I dont think anyone would say they are better off. Its a tragedy.
People paying doctors to take care of the pain, enough that they can take a walk or enjoy even the smallest things in life arent trying to end their life. They are trying to live, but they need help. They dont want to become drug addicts or alcoholics. They want to hold their grandchilds hand and do something besides lay on a couch. The longer your on the medication the more it takes. In the end You are safer being taken care of by a doctor. We need to put medication back in the doctors hands. We need laws that say you have a right, in the strongest country in the world, to help from a medical Dr. to treat patients with logical medical problems for pain, to make their life a livable one. We need to do this with appointments at a decent price with random drug tests. So that people on Social security or unemployed or trying to stay at their job can afford to do so. We need appointments every 3 to 6 months. We need to do for our people what we would do for any animal we came across that was in pain Please sign my petition and help give so many people a reason to keep fighting for a meaningful life.
