Thank Goshen Community Schools of Goshen, Indiana for changing their racist mascot name from "Redskins" to "RedHawks"

  • by: Peter Scott
  • recipient: Goshen Community School Board

After a summer of contentious debate that divided the Goshen community, the Goshen School Board Monday night quickly approved a new mascot to replace the longtime Redskins moniker. Effective January 1st, Goshen’s new mascot will be the RedHawks.

The Goshen School Board approved the name unanimously Monday evening in a special meeting. Current students at Goshen Middle School and Goshen High School, as well as more than 200 alumni still living within district boundaries, voted on their favorite from four finalists: RedHawks, Gladiators, Wolfpack and Spartans.

Please sign this petition and show the Goshen Community School board that their decision was very swift and decisive in justice for indigenous people by removing their racist slur of a mascot name.
