Transfer Sunder, a 14 year old severely abused elephant, to a sanctuary immediately

The uploaded video above is graphic.
It has been widely documented online, with both graphic photos and videos that Sunder, a young 14 year old elephant, has been repeatedly abused and malnourished by its handlers at Jyotiba Temple south of Mumbai, India.
For a large part of his young adult life, he has been held in captivity and found to be covered in scars, with a large hole near his outer ear. Due to the shackles on his ankles, he is unable to lie down and has little room to move.
After taking notice, PETA India has been proactive in communicating with Indian officials to transfer Sunder to a sanctuary where he would no longer be bound by chains and can roam freely. Celebrities such as Paul McCartney have rallied their support for Sunder, but this has been an ongoing effort since 2012 and officials do not appear to take this with urgency.
This young elephant DOES NOT DESERVE to live in this manner and needs our help, PLEASE help by signing our care2 online petition. Let us urge the Indian officials that we support Sunder and want his transfer, to a safe sanctuary under PETA India guidance, completed.

Dear Official:

I am shocked to learn that Sunder, the young elephant who has been kept chained and abused at the Jyotiba temple in Kolhapur for years, still has not been released to the sanctuary as had been ordered by the High Court. An undercover investigation conducted by PETA has resulted in shocking video footage and photos of a mahout (handler) violently beating Sunder along with his surrounding conditions. This material has now been viewed publicly worldwide.

Please, you have authority to bring about the transfer to a sanctuary for Sunder, I respectfully request that you take action to transfer Sunder to a sanctuary under the guidance of PETA India.

Sincerely,

This is uplifting news, but not until Sunder officially leaves his current environment can we call this a success!
