Harron Homes Sandlands Park, Hucknall to provide FTTP Broadband to Phase 1 houses

Residents of Harron Homes Sandlands park Phase 1 homes are limited in their possible internet speeds as the local connection is to a phone exchange over 2km away, Virgin has been rejected from being installed on the site and Phase 2 have been reported to have Fibre To The Property (FTTP) internet which is the current leading method of broadband install Broadband engineers who have visited local homes have advise there is no way to improve broadband speeds on the current infrastructure (read: cables), it is also expected that as more people move onto the estate, all other residents broadband speeds will decrease.

The current speeds are not fast enough to deal with some residents current demands, an example is Netflix 4k support, which requires a minimum of 25mbps constant download speed, the current speeds are not reaching half of this. We move further and further into a connected world where more and more devices will connect to the internet, security systems and home automation are becoming more and more common, even new cars can now connect to your wireless internet. Television is moving away from braodcast and more toward on-demand services. Broadband is the next vital utility after water, electric and gas. This future is coming and Phase 1 cannot meet the current demand.

This request is for Harron Home to engage with Broadband providers and retroactively provide the ability to allow residents to install high-speed internet services to all of the existing properties in Phase 1 and ensure that the new houses also have this access.

Update #16 years ago
Hi everyone, it’s great that we have over 60 signatures so far. I have reset the target to 100, this is more signatures than houses in the estate but I figured some people will have multiple people in the whose who will have signed. So 100 is a good number.

Just to let you all know, I have already engaged with a Harron personally asking for an explanation and have contacted broadband service providers for quotations for the work.

I will keep everyone up to date on the progress.
