For over 30 years Shriners has funded torturous burn experiments at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB). Dogs, sheep, pigs, and mice have been horribly burned with the open flames of Bunsen Burners and hot metal rods, suffering 3rd degree burns on as much as 40% of their bodies. Animals have endured cruel experiments without adequate anesthesia and pain relief. A PETA investigation prompted the U.S. Department of Agriculture to cite and fine UTMB for federal animal welfare act violations. It's time for Shriners International to stop funding burn experiments at this university and contributing to the horrendous torture of innocent animals.
