DEMAND AN AUSTRALIAN ANIMAL ABUSE REGISTER NOW

Australian Animal Abuse Register Needed NOW

REGISTERING MUST APPLY TO ANIMAL ABUSE/NEGLECT OFFENDERS

We are calling on the Australian Government to immediately pass a bill for an “Australian Animal Abuse Register”.

Each State/Territory to have their own section to allow cross reference access for all authorities.

Cases of neglect, torture and abuse are becoming more prevalent and with the need for harsher penalties, there also comes the necessity for ALL offenders who pass through our Court System to be entered into the above mentioned Register.

Once a person has been entered into the Register, they should not be removed. Animal welfare/care courses need to be made available to offenders. If after completion of the course they can show to an Officer (such as the RSPCA) that they have adequate means and the knowledge and understanding to ensure that the animal will be properly cared for a permit could be issued. Should the offender commit a further offence the penalties should include a jail term and no contact with animals for life.
Not all cases can be given one harsh penalty. For example a case of failure to provide adequate shelter should allow for education on animal care whilst the deliberate torture and killing an animal would be never to be in contact with an animal for life.

Any person(s) who cause harm to any animal should be held accountable for their actions. It is up to the Court system to ensure that appropriate penalties are applied.

The Australian Animal Abuse Register should be available to the Police, Animal Welfare Groups, RSPCA, Veterinary Officers and any other relevant persons.

There is evidence of young offenders abusing animals that show these same offenders carrying out abuse on humans.

This needs to apply to ALL breeds of animals in Australia; pet, companion, service, zoo, farm, wild, feral.

ANIMAL ABUSE CANNOT AND SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED ON ANY LEVEL.

Australia can no longer take a “soft approach” in any aspect of animal welfare.

The well-being and safety of all animals in Australia needs to be addressed and the Government must use whatever means necessary to put a stop to the horrific number of repeat offenders.

AUSTRALIAN ANIMAL ABUSE REGISTER IS A MUST!
The time has come for the Government to stand up and let offenders know that animal abuse WILL NOT BE TOLERATED in Australia. Punishment MUST reflect the crime.
Listing of ALL offenders is needed now.
We, the Australian Public are mortified to read of the ever increasing cases of animal cruelty, neglect and torture that are widespread throughout Australia.
The need for protection of our animals is paramount. These crimes have no boundaries. No animal is safe; not household pets, wild animals, livestock, protected or zoo animals included.
The need for harsher penalties, along with more animal protection services and officers is now a necessity. The increased cases being brought before the Courts show that the current system has failed to protect our animals. The Government has been, and is still grossly negligent in ensuring that animals have a voice.
We urge you to ensure that all offenders are recorded in an Australian Abuse Register.
