Running for Basic Income

I’m running the Birmingham Half Marathon in October this year. Instead of asking for sponsorship money for a charity, I am asking for people to pledge me a conversation, face-to-face, with somebody they know, about Basic Income.

Basic Income is an idea that I’m very passionate about. I’m a trade unionist, a community organiser, a fitness instructor and carer for a disabled loved one. I see Basic Income as a policy that could help people gain a new level of power over their own lives, and help society to flourish. While there is a rising level of debate about Basic Income on the web, there is less awareness of it offline. I’d like to see that change.

If you are just finding out about Basic Income now, you can learn more about it here.

How to pledge support.

  • Check out the resources on the website linked to above and on the 'Petition' tab. You can find plenty more by searching for 'Basic Income' or 'Citizen's Income'.
  • Talk to somebody you know about it face-to-face and hear what they think.
  • Articles or memes shared on Facebook do not count!
  • Tell me in the petition comments – who did you talk to, how do you know them, and what did they say?
  • There’s no limit to the number of conversations that you can 'sponsor' me with, and you can take part anywhere in the world. Unfortunately you can only post on this site once, but in your comment you can report on as many conversations as you like.
  • Please share this page so that others can report on their Basic Income conversations too.
