Fight Against New Carlisle Industrial Park Expansion

St Joseph County Economic Development recently expanded the New Carlisle Industrial Park going from Walnut Rd, down US 20, down Smilax, across Highway 2 and back down Walnut. According to the St Joseph County Economic Development there are several industrial companies interested in this area & they are currently working with 6-7 companies.

Property owner's weren't informed of this. A few property owner's just received a vague notice stating their property was being considered for an acquisition list for the Industrial Park but nothing explaining what that means. St Joseph County added 19 parcels recently to the acquisition list so if needed the county can get the property by eminent domain (if the property owner doesn't agree to sell then the county will take the property & give the property owner fair market value). Basically, the property owner has no say at all regarding their property. The county is currently appraising an additional 12 parcels for planning.

St Joseph County Council will be having a meeting in October. This petition & the total number of signatures will be read at the meeting by Mark Telloyan, county councilmen for New Carlisle area so it will be recorded in the meetings minutes.
