Spare the (Non)Savage Bear

A young black bear made his way down to the small city of Savage, Minnesota about a week ago looking for a place to call home. The bear has not acted aggressively and has been described as "calm" by residents who have spotted him. He even wandered through a busy campground without incident.

The Minnesota DNR has plans to shoot and kill the bear once they find him because the suburban habitat cannot support a bear. The bear is only a victim of habitat loss due to urban sprawl.

Please urge the Minnesota DNR to consider other options such as relocation or release to a proper animal care facility. There is no need to kill this bear which has done nothing wrong.

As residents of Minnesota, we love our wildlife and natural resources. It has come to our attention that the young black bear near Savage, Minnesota will be killed if found by authorities. This is alarming to us as the bear has not shown any aggression toward people or property even while it wandered through a busy campground.

The bear is a victim of habitat loss and has done nothing wrong. Please consider an alternative method of resolving this situation. Relocation to a suitable wild habitat or to a proper animal care facility are also viable options. Such alternatives will better preserve the natural balance of Minnesota's ecosystem.

Thank you for your consideration.
