Demand the end of Medicare trying to destroy the Prosthetics and Orthotics industry.

Medicare is continuously trying to make it more and more difficult for amputees to receive quality care from the remaining prosthetic companies left in this country. Medicare RAC audits have devastated the P&O industry for close to ten years now putting dozens of family businesses and solid P&O medical practices out of business.

Medicare has been systematiacally making it almost impossible for Prosthetic and Orthotic companies in this country to survive and operate a fair business. The Prosthetic and Orthotic industry is under constant siege from medicare who is now proposing yet another change that could have additional devastating consequences on this industries future in general. This is all happening at a time when the number of amputees in our country is increasing dramatically largely due to the number one medical epidemic in our country today, diabetes. People are losing limbs at an alarming rate and it is a patients right to choose which Prosthetic company they want to work with. Unfortunately if things continue the way they have been with Medicare there will be NO companies left for amputees to choose from at all. This area of medicine will be yet another branch of government that dictates what a citizen gets and how they get it.

Yesterday the DME MACs released ​a new draft LCD for lower limb prostheses that could replace the current one. The ramifications are potentially far reaching. It is not an exaggeration to say that this might be the most significant change to prosthetic billing and coverage requirements since the creation of the L codes if the draft were implemented in its current form.
