Demand preservation of our trees on Belmont Way!

  • by: Hannah Wilson

We were not informed properly or given enough time to object or discuss with the council their plans for the surrounding environment for their Town Access Plan. Whilst residents support the developments, we do NOT support removal of trees outside Church Street that are noise pollution cancelling, provide privacy, improve carbon emissions and air quality for the area in close proximity to the A6 and M60, and improve the aesthetics of the area. They have already taken 10+ trees and they plan to replant....1 tree. Please join our cause.

Dear Heaton Norris residents,

We are petitioning to Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council to cease cutting down the trees on Belmont Way and Church Street. Where trees have been felled, we would like them to be replanted.

We are mostly concerened with:

  1.        The effect on the carbon emissions with the planned increase in traffic to the area.

  2.        The wildlife being effected with the removal of the trees.

  3.        The long term effect on the house prices due to the despoliation of the road.

  4.        The dust and dirt now entering houses from the road, where previously shielded by trees

  5.        Any planned works following the changes

Please do support us to demand action.

Update #18 years ago
Thanks for signing folks, we have had some great news that the council will be replanting the trees they have taken and won't be taking anymore.
Sad that so many have gone already but together with other neighbours we didn't just sit back and let it happen.
Thank you again everyone. #feelingempowered
